Vernon Hill, Sr.

Vernon Lee Hill Sr., of the Pottsville, passed away peacefully at his home on January 31, 2026, at the age of 78. Born on August 9, 1947, in Springfield, Louisiana, he was the son of Vernon Luther Hill and Dovey Lee Roddy Hill.

Vernon was a dedicated family man, devoted to his loving wife Judy Hill, with whom he shared 46 wonderful years. He was a proud father to four children: Vernon Hill, Jr., Brad Lee Hill, Edward Hill, and Russell Hill and wife Leigh. His legacy continues through his 15 grandchildren: Jaden, Ethan, Kendra, Kylee, Kobe, Gloria, Tabitha, Cody, Mathew, Justin, Emily, Rylee, Lyla, Landry, and Reagan Hill, as well as two great-grandchildren, Brayden Lee and Oliver Cole Goff. Vernon is also survived by his two sisters, Alice Chriswell and Carmel Hill, and his brother, Kenneth Hill.

A skilled Brick Mason for 42 years, Vernon had a passion for fishing and an unwavering love for his family, which remained at the heart of everything he did.

Visitation will be held on Monday, February 2, 2026, from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM at the Russellville Family Funeral home, followed by a graveside service at Pisgah Cemetery at 2:00 PM. Rev. James Findley will officiate.

The pallbearers honoring Vernon's memory will include Edward Hill, Russell Hill, Landon Crafton, Rick Elkins, Josh Renfroe, and James Darter. Honorary pallbearers are Jerry Freeman, Tim Overturf, VL Hill, Jr., and Brad Hill.
