Tom Childress

Tom Childress, 85 of Russellville, Arkansas, passed away Sunday, September 1, 2019 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.  Born October 29, 1933 in Hattieville, Arkansas, Tom was one of 11 children, born to the late Charles Washington Childress and Gladys Wilma Dixon. 
Having grown up in hard times, Tom always worked tirelessly to provide a better life for his family.  He retired after 30 years, from Dependable Air Conditioning.

Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his grandson, Joshua Henderson; four sisters and two brothers, Athlene Crites, Inez Pearson, Anna Jane Childress, Jean Wager, Charles Childress and Van Childress.

He leaves behind his wife of 62 years, Shirley Barham Childress; a son, Gary Childress (Karen) of Russellville; a daughter, Debbie Howell (Robert) of Hector; three grandchildren, Brittany Henderson Myers, Kelsey Childress Lawlis (Cody), Jordan T. Childress; six great grandchildren, Paxtin, Rowan & Sutton Lawlis, Mylah, Emalyn and Hazyl Grace Meyers; three brothers, Mervin Childress (Lola), Sammy Joe Childress (Pat), Jerry Childress (Pat); sister, Barbara (Bobbie) Sampley; several nieces, nephews and other family and friends.

His visitation will be 5-7pm, Monday, September 2, 2019 at Russellville Family Funeral.  The Funeral service will be, 10am, Tuesday, September 3, 2019 at Russellville Family Funeral Chapel.  Rev. Joe Yates will officiate.  Burial will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park, under the direction of Russellville Family Funeral.

Pallbearers will be Jordan T. Childress, Sam Childress, Terry Childress, Billy Van Jolley, Glen Jolley, Jeremy Myers.
