Roy's parents lived a life of sharecropping and odd-jobbing, and before Roy left home, his family moved nearly 50 times, living at times mostly in Arkansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, Kansas, New Mexico, Arizona, and California.
As an adult, Roy had many jobs. Eventually Roy worked in copper mines in Central Arizona where he developed his love for authentic Mexican food. He was drafted and served in the Army stateside during the Korean War as a driver for officers. Following a term in the military Roy settled in Southern California and met the love of his life, Patricia, while working as a mechanic in a Shell station. He married Patricia and they moved back to Arizona, where they started their family with three children, Timothy, David, and Kimberly.
Following the tragic accidental death of their oldest son Timothy, and the birth of their daughter Kimberly, Roy and Pat moved from Arizona to Siloam Springs, Arkansas, where they raised their family. Roy worked at Webb Wheel from 1969 until he and Pat retired in 1995 - he from Webb Wheel and she from JCPenney.
Following retirement, Roy and Pat spent their time travelling and camping in their RV with their Good Sam's Club, and flea-market shopping and selling. Roy and others in the Good Sam's Club enjoyed playing music wherever they travelled, around campfires and in RV community centers across the countryside. Eventually, Roy and Pat moved to Russellville Arkansas to be close to their son, David, who looked after them in their elder years.
