Oliver Melvin Vinson

Oliver Melvin Vinson, 85, went to be with Jesus, Saturday, April 15, 2017 at the VA Hospital in Little Rock. He was born in Pope County, September 1, 1931, raised in the Carden Bottom community of Yell County. Melvin was a photographer in the US Air Force. He worked in maintenance for ConAgra , retiring after 26 years. He was an active member of Grace Chapel Pentecostal Church for over 50 years. He served as a Deacon- Trustee, Sunday School Superintendent, Church Secretary, Sunday School Teacher and spent countless hours working on the church property. Melvin is preceded in death by his loving wife of 63 years, Modean Vinson; parents, George and Laura Brock Vinson; two brothers, Rufus Garfield Vinson and a toddler; four sisters, Elsie Wood, Sadie Pruitt, Lorene Conner and Anna Lee Balanger. He is survived by three children; Melvin Dennis Vinson & Tina, London, Sheila Loyd & Kurt, Pottsville, Jerry Lynn Vinson & Teresa, Russellville; five grandchildren, Jeremy Loyd, Jason Loyd, Jordan Vinson, Jessica Honnell and Jered Vinson; five great-grandchildren, Logan, Ivey, Henry Hays, Jailynn, Lexi and one due in November. Visitation will be at 5-7pm, Sunday, April 16, 2017, at Grace Chapel Pentecostal Church, 1206 Parker Road and East L Street, Russellville. Celebration of life service is 10am, Monday, April 17, 2017 at Grace Chapel Pentecostal Church, with Rev. William Flynn, Rev. Dennis Vinson and Rev. Jerry Vinson officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park under the direction of Russellville Family Funeral. Pallbearers will be Troy Thompson, Jeremy Loyd, Jason Loyd, Jordan Vinson, Jered Vinson and Wes Honnell.
