Merlin Don Ratliff passed away on Thursday, May 1, 2025, in his home in Russellville, Arkansas.
Don was born on August 21, 1945, to the late Anderson “Allen” Ratliff and Mabel Lorene Terry in Rotan, Texas. He was the youngest of five children, who all preceded him in death.
After graduating from Eastland High School, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1964 and served 4 valiant years during the Vietnam War. After returning home, he met his wife, JanAlice Ratliff, in Yuma, AZ. Together, they raised four daughters, Sherry Marchand, Angela Cook, Kristie Betancur, and Misty Magnoli.
He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend.
Don was an avid music lover, a passionate guitar musician, and a choir leader. He was well known in the real estate community and was a broker with Remax Properties of Montgomery, Alabama. He enjoyed playing card games with his wife and family, was an avid women's softball enthusiast, and was a devoted follower of Christ Jesus.
Don Ratliff is survived by his three adoring daughters, Sherry Marchand and spouse Brian Marchand, Angela Cook and spouse Michael Cook, and Kristie Betancur and spouse Derrick Betancur. He is also survived by his six grandchildren, Ryan Cook, Travis Marchand, Laura Pendley (Marchand), Katlin Sisson (Betancur), Rebecca Wiley (Betancur), Gabrielle Betancur, and great-grandchildren Riley Cook, Caden Cook, Levi Pendley, and Paisley Wiley.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Jan Alice Ratliff, his youngest daughter, Misty Magnoli and his eldest granddaughter, Megan Nicole Cook.
A celebration of Don’s life will begin at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at Russellville Family Funeral.
Cremation arrangements are under the care of Russellville Family Funeral.
