Lola Mae Childress

Lola Mae Childress, 81 of Atkins, went to be with the Lord Thursday, April 14, 2022. She was born January 12, 1941 in Exeter, California to Emmett & Mary Lois Haynes Hinkston.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Mervin “Mutt” Childress; parents; granddaughter, Hannah Ingold; sister, Mary Alice Welcher; two brothers, Robert Hinkston and Thomas Hinkston.

She is survived by her four children, Kay & Don Alexander of Clarksville, Pam and Bill Smith of Russellville, Bubba Childress of Atkins, Kelly Childress of Russellville; five grandchildren, Leah & Jordan Rose, Jayme Childress, Jordan Childress, Seth & Emily Alexander, Kelsey & Reed Alvey; ten great-grandchildren, Alex, Jake, Sadie, Riot, Olivia, Ashlynn, Paisley, Rhett, Leilani, Kailana; one brother, Kenneth & Loretta Hinkston and many other family and friends. 

Lola was a member of Atkins First Assembly of God Church. From a young age, she loved to sing.  She told us stories of how she would pretend to be a famous singer.  She used her singing talent to sing in church. Before working in the Atkins school district for several years, she was a home maker.  No one enjoyed cleaning more than she did.  Her children would cringe when she would meet you at the door, with a broom in hand, to make sure there was no dirt on the floor.  She was happy and content going to church and taking care of her family.

Her visitation will be 5 - 7pm Monday, April 18, 2022 at Russellville Family Funeral. The funeral service will be 2pm Tuesday, April 19, 2022 at Russellville Family Funeral with Brother Brian Ryals officiating. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery in Atkins, AR. Arrangements are under the direction of Russellville Family Funeral. 

Pallbearers will be Don Alexander, Seth Alexander, Alex Stanley, Jake Stanley, Jordan Rose, Reed Alvey and Bill Smith.
