Garry Robert Cooper, born February 28, 1948, in Dumas, Arkansas, passed away on October 5, 2026, surrounded by the love and memories of those who knew him best.

Garry was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse Cooper and Bonnie Cooper, and by his wife of 45 years, Rhetta Cooper.

He is survived by his children, Julie Armstrong, Will Cooper, Lauren Armstrong, and Alec Armstrong, along with two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Garry is also survived by his siblings, Joyce Thompson and Tommy Cooper.

Garry never met a stranger. He was known for his friendship, kindness, and storytelling. He especially enjoyed hunting and fishing and treasured the time he spent with his friends at Garnett Hunting Club.

Garry worked for more than 20 years at the Helena Cotton Oil Mill in Helena, Arkansas. Later, he worked at Phil Wright Autoplex in Russellville, Arkansas, where he remained until his retirement. He was a member of Second Baptist Church in Russellville, Arkansas. His faith was an important part of his life. 

Garry will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

No public services are planned. The family will gather for a private ceremony to honor and celebrate Garry’s life.
