Obituary 

Clifford W. “Bill” Waddoups, Jr. 

Dover, Arkansas- Bill Waddoups passed away on February 8, 2023. He left the bounds of planet earth to be with his Lord Jesus Christ in eternal paradise. His passing was quiet and peaceful in the presence of his son Daniel and daughter Susan in Dover, Arkansas where he had live for the past 90 years. 

Bill was born on September 26, 1932 in Phoenix, Arizona to parents Clifford and Clara Waddoups. He was the oldest of two children with his sister Sally Elain Waddoups. Bill grew up in the then small-town atmosphere of Phoenix, attending Kenelworth Grade school, North Phoenix High school, Phoenix College and The University of Arizona in Tucson. In high school he met his future wife to be, Helen Barbara Rolph with whom he shared a lifelong, loving marriage of 66 years. Bill and Helen were married in Anchorage, Alaska while he served in the United States Air Force. 

Upon returning to Phoenix, Bill attended The General Motors Chevrolet School of Modern Merchandising and Management in Detroit, Michigan and entered the family automobile business, Rudolph Chevrolet. 

Bill and Helen made their home in the Phoenix area where their first two children were born: Susan Ann Waddoups and Clifford W. (Will) Waddoups III. 

Bill expanded his automobile holdings to include four other dealerships, all partnered with men he worked with at Rudolph Chevrolet. In addition to his business involvement, Bill was an active member of the Phoenix Thunderbirds and the Phoenix Charter Government Committee. 

Over time Bill’s interest in the cattle business eventually prompted the family’s move to the Yolo Ranch near Prescott, Arizona. Shortly after this time, two additional sons were born into the family; Daniel Edward Waddoups and Matthew Charles Waddoups. Shortly thereafter Bill divested his automobile interests to devote more time to the cattle business. 

The family then settled in Cornville, Arizona on the Oak Creek Ranch where they lived for the next thirty years. During those years Bill’s life was totally refocused on becoming a Christian follower of Jesus Christ. He and Helen became members of St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Sedona, Arizona and the Vineyard Christian Fellowship in Cottonwood, Arizona. 

As Bill approached his later years, he came to realize that God’s primary truth for living was spiritual rather than material or physical. Life was to flow from the very spirit of the person Jesus Christ living inside of you. In Him and knowing Him are all of life’s true treasures. This is God’s mystery of life as revealed scripturally in the Bible and where Bill Waddoups ultimately found life in his 90 years on earth. 

Those closest to him over the years were his wife, Helen Rolph Waddoups; daughter, Susan Waddoups Jones and husband Bruce Jones of Pagosa Springs, Colorado; son, Clifford W. (Will) Waddoups now deceased; son, Daniel Waddoups and wife Shannon Waddoups of Dover, Arkansas and son, Matthew Waddoups of Tucson, Arizona. Bill is also survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren. 

A private family memorial service is planned for a future date.
