Carmet Lerial Crites, 96 of Atkins, Arkansas, passed away Monday, January 19, 2026 at his home. He was born July 19, 1929 to Eldridge and Pearlie Baker Crites in a little red house that still stands to this day.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Lamar Crites and a son, Carrol Crites.
He is survived by his loving wife, Juanita Crites; daughter, Ann & husband Louis Schmoll; daughter-in-law, Toni Crites; grandchildren, Angie & husband Steven Baker, April & husband Jayson Crabb, Tara & husband Hunter Denton, Shawn & wife Stacey Crites; two step grandchildren, Robbie & wife Stacy Schmoll, Richie Schmoll; great grandchildren, Mychaela Bennett, Kutter Mathews, Cinch Forrest, Trell Forrest, Trent Baker, Emily Tomlinson, Lilly Agner, Bella Crabb, Jodi Crites, Marlee Sugg & husband Brance, Maddie Griswood; great-great grandchildren, AJ Bennett, Beckham Lee Sugg.
Carmet married Juanita Hemmer June 2nd, 1951 and they were married 74 years. Carmet was known as Papa Chicken to his grandchildren. He loved to garden, whittle, and cut wood in his spare time. Most of all he loved talking about his past job at the highway department and all the memories he's collected over the years.
The Graveside Funeral service will be 2pm Wednesday, January 21st, 2026 at Hudson Cemetery in Moreland officiated by Rev Hank Duvall. Visitation will be 30 minutes prior to the service starting at 1:30. Arrangements are under the direction of Russellville Family Funeral.
Pallbearers will be Kutter Mathews, Cinch Forrest, Trell Forrest, Jayson Crabb, Mark Bratton and Steven Baker.
Honorary pallbearer will be Shawn Crites.
