Bertha Freeman

June 18, 1940 — July 14, 2021

Mother Bertha Freeman was called home to rest on Wednesday evening, July 14th 2021, at her home with family at 7:45pm. She was born on June 18th 1940, in Ville Platte, Louisiana, to the late Nathan and Joyce Malveaux. She was one of nine children in this union. She accepted Christ when she was young and served the local church diligently for decades as a teacher and encourager. She married the late Junius Freeman of Eunice, LA, who loved her dearly.  Mother Bertha had two sons that she loved very much. She was a praying woman who was an avid reader of the biblical scriptures and enjoyed writing. She also loved to laugh and encourage others. Despite any hardships that she experienced in life she continued to display humility and compassion. She did not complain about her trials in life but relied on God for strength. She spent the last 17 years of her life in the state of Arkansas, enjoying time outdoors and spending time with her grandchildren. During her last days she was surrounded by her family and loved ones. One of the last statements that she made was that “God is Love.”  In addition to her late parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers Leas and Calvin Malveaux, and one sister Hilda Jones.  Celebrating her life and legacy includes: two sons and daughter in laws, Mark & Lorraine Freeman, Aurora, Colorado and Timothy & Nekeitha Freeman of Russellville, Arkansas; three brothers, Vernice Malveaux of Eunice, LA., Elread Malveaux of San Diego, CA., Nathan Malveaux Jr. of Eunice LA.; two sisters, Bertha Malveaux Doucet of Houston, TX., Beatrice Malveaux of Eunice, LA.; one brother in law, Eldridge Doucet of Houston, TX. She had a total of seven grandchildren, including Justin Freeman, Keanna Tabbicca, Tiana Freeman, Tessa Freeman, Titus Freeman, Takia Freeman, and Toria Freeman. She also has two great-grandchildren Aya & Amir Tabbicca. Additionally, she had a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  Funeral service will be 10am Saturday, July 24, 2021 at Redemption Faith Ministries in Dardanelle.
